Following on from the release and tour of the first single Morningless from his upcoming album, Paul Dempsey has shared the details of ‘Strange Loop’ with the second single and opening track The True Sea. Unlike the tightly wound Morningless, The True Sea is a sprawling seven minute saga that feels more relaxed and open, aided by expansive instrumentation and vivid imagery like “she makes the ocean seem like a drop in the ocean”. Held together by the steadfast drums and punchy bass, the countless guitars, pianos, keys, and vocals all build space, drive, and climax throughout its many acts, highlighting the common thread of eclecticism in these songs. Dempsey continues to push towards unexplored sonic territory, and in doing so continues to create music that is both familiar and unexpected. 'Strange Loop' will hit the shelves on 13 May 2016 through EMI Music. |
